An Ekiti State Chief Magistrate Court, sitting in Ado Ekiti has ordered the remand of one Sanfullahi Nasiru (25) in the custody of the Nigerian Correction Service, Ado Ekiti for offence of abduction and rape of a sixteen year old girl.

Magistrate Bankole Oluwasanmi in his ruling said, the accused person shall be taken into the custody of the Federal Correctional Centre, Ado Ekiti and thereat remanded for a period of thirty days.

Moving the ex-parte application, Inspector Olubu Apata urged the court to remand the accused person for thirty day, to allow Police complete their investigation while the duplicate case file shall be forwarded to office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice.

Sanfullahi was reasonably suspected to have committed offence of Abduction and Rape of a 16 year old girl in Ado Ekiti and Zamfara State between August 2021 and January, 2022, punishable under Section 361 of the Criminal Code Cap C16, VOL.1, Law of Ekiti State, 2012 and Section of Child Right Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.

In her statement to the Police, the victim said, the accused person usually come to their shop to buy things, he came to our shop on that day, I told him I had headache, he brought a substance from his pocket and mixed it with soft drink, he asked me to drink it, and I drank it.
Shortly, I developed love affection for him, unknown to my parents, he took me to Zamfara State where I stayed for a while, my mother came to pick me where I was kept in a village in Zamfara State but he refused to release me, it took the intervention of a law Court in Zamfara before I was released and warned him not to come near my house or disturb me anymore.

When he came back to Ado Ekiti, he came to our house again to threaten my mother, the matter was reported at the Police station and was later arrested, she concluded.

The case has been adjourned till 23/05/2022 for mention.
