BE GOOD AMBASSADORS OF CHRIST, VEN. OTENAIKE URGES CHRISTIANS

By Bayo Famoroti.

Ven. Bode Otenaike, Ph.D., Vicar of Ado Ekiti Archdeaconry (Anglican Communion), has urged Christians to make themselves good ambassadors of Christ in their way of life.

Giving the admonition in a sermon he delivered on Sunday at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Odo Ado, Ado Ekiti, Ven. Otenaike, said some Christians have disappointed God through their attitude and conduct.

According to him, many of those who profess to be Christians, are churchgoers who are still living in sin and don’t want to change their way of life.
Said he: “Some come to Church for show off and catwalk for people to notice them. Some indulge in cursing, malice, and other negative habits. You are not deceiving Christ but yourself.

“Make a change today; Church attendance is not Christianity. You must be born again by giving your life to Christ. Only those who are completely renewed are called Christians; you must change from the inside out but if you are unable to change; you are a fake.

“Every true believer has a personal encounter with Christ. You must know the date you begin a relationship with God, if not, then you are not born again”.

Ven. Otenaike said that it is a shame for a Christian to participate in traditional festivals but that as a new creation, we share from God’s glory and when you are truly born again, the glory of God will manifest in your life.

He noted that being born again, engenders a renewed knowledge of God, the zeal to hear God’s word, zeal to pray, thirst for church activities and happiness to be involved in God’s projects.

The cleric, quoting from Romans 8:14, pointed out that only true Christians can know a totally new existence and that when the Holy Spirit teaches them, they will know the mind of God.
