The Nigeria Medical Association NMA Ekiti State chapter has elected new leadership that will pilot the affairs of the association for another two years.
The leaders emerged during an election held on Thursday in Ado Ekiti and presided over by the electoral body led by a former chairman of the association, Dr Ade Ojo.
Dr Kayode Ariyibi of the Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido Ekiti, emerged as the new chairman while Dr. Babatunde Rosiji was elected Vice Chairman 1 and Dr. Titilayo Adetoyinbo – Vice Chairman 2.
Dr. Bamidele Atiba emerged as the Secretary, Dr. Allwell Otuneme became Assistant Secretary 1 while Dr. Ayodeji Oluwayemi bagged the position of Assistant Secretary 2.
Others include Dr. Temitope Jolayemi – Treasurer, Dr. Ola Adaramola – Financial Director, Dr. (Mrs) Mercy Akinwumi – Social Director and Dr. Benjamin O. Adegoke – Publicity Director.
The oath of office was administered on the new leadership by the chairman electoral committee, Dr Pius Ade-Ojo during the inauguration ceremony held at the Doctors’ House along Iyin road, while certificate of return was also presented to them.
Speaking at the event, Dr Ade-Ojo commended the maturity displayed by the doctors which led to the success of the election.
In his remark, the immediate past chairman of the association, Dr Tunji Omotayo thanked God for the successful completion of his tenure and urged the incoming executive to consolidate on the achievement recorded so far.
He said “There are agitations left unachieved the incoming leadership should ensure they carry on from where we stopped.
He thanked members for their support and love while he was serving and advocated such for the incoming leadership
In their goodwill messages, some leaders of the association including the immediate Past Chairman, Medical and Dental Consultants’ Association of Nigeria ( MDCAN) EKSUTH Chapter and the incumbent National Publicity Secretary, MDCAN. Dr Bidemi Omonisi tasked the new chairman to extend hands of fellowship to his opponent during the election so as to build a united association that would fight for the needs of members.
In his acceptance speech, the new chairman, Dr Ariyibi promised to raise the bar of the association to an enviable height without compromise.
High point on the occasion was the presentation of award to the out gone executives.
