People of Aisegba Ekiti , Gbonyin local government have continued to lament over the lack of electricity in the community for almost a decade hence the need for government’s attention.

Aisegba Ekiti and other communities under Gbonyin Local government have been in total blackout for almost ten years without any concrete step by successive governments to address the ugly situation.

In a statement made available to newsmen in Ado Ekiti, the Balemo of Aisegba Ekiti, High Chief Awoleye Abegunde and Aduro of Aisegba Ekiti High Chief Abiola Omoniyi explained that the situation had crippled the economy and sociopolitical activities of the community.

They said “Several efforts has been made to have agreement with the BEDC but all proved abortive due to a very unrealistic bill given to us by the distribution company. Since then we have been cut off from the national grid, all the electricity infrastructure has been damaged.

” BEDC is insisting that we must put the infrastructure back in place and at the same time pay the backlog of estimated bills accrued to the consumers. This is running into multi millions of naira.

“We are therefore appealing to the government of Ekiti State to come to our aids.

They also appealed to all natives of Aisegba who are well to do to render necessary support to enable the community bounce back to normal life.

In same vane, the communities pleaded with BEDC to come to term with the community on a more realistic way to fix the infrastructure and payment of the bill.
