President Muhammadu Buhari has assured Nigerians that the mandate for change remains relevant and will be steadily followed to improve livelihoods.

This is contained in a statement marking the first year of the President’s second term in office.

Recalling the electoral victory that gave President Buhari a distance of about four million votes over his closest opponent, the statement says the government would scale all obstacles to justify the confidence reposed in it.

It says President Buhari had since last year been striving to implement policies that had now begun to yield results.

The statement says some of the yields are the increase in foreign investment; construction of new roads, bridges and rails, improvement in employment.

Others, according to it, are the diversification of the national economy through a massive growth in agriculture, and the return of taxpayers’ monies starched in foreign banks.

The statement says although the emergence of Covid-19 and its demands had slowed down the pace of approved projects, nation-building will start anew soon after the end of the virus.

It points out that with the war on corruption, hard work, and trust of Nigerians, the nation is better positioned to seize new opportunities in all facets of socio-economic development in the world.
