LOCKDOWN: ANGRY MOB ATTACK POLICE OFFICER IN EKITI.
A police officer identifies as SO Jose has been wounded on his head by a group of people in Ikole Ekiti.
Roundoffnews gathered that the action of the people was in protest against the use of tear gas on traders by some security agents as part of measures to enforce the lockdown order declared by the state government
The incident was said to have occurred in Ikoyi, in Ikole Ekiti, Ikole Local Government.
Witnesses say, some members of the covid-19 task force including police and Peace Corps members have earlier stormed some markets to chase away traders who defied the order of government prohibiting trading in major markets pending the end of corona virus pandemic.
It was gathered that in the process of carrying out the order, the security men made use of tear gas to disperse the people a situation that provoked some youths who later went after an innocent officer and broke his head.
When contacted, the Ekiti State Police Public Relations Officer Mr Sunday Abutu said he is not yet aware of the incident with a promise to get back to Roundoffnews.
