COVID-19 LOCKDOWN: EKITI DSS REACHES OUT TO VULNERABLE PERSONS.
The Department of State Security Service Ekiti State has donated food items worth millions of Naira to some vulnerable persons in the state as part of measures to cushion the effect of the lockdown declared by government to check the spread of covid-19.
Since the lockdown down was declared, many residents of Ekiti State have cried out for help particularly the physically challenged and aged in the society, Perhaps this is one of the reasons the DSS decided to reach out to some of the affected people.
The items which include, Rice, Beans, Garri, Noodles and other varieties were handed over to some institutions, religious bodies and orphanage homes for even distribution to vulnerable persons under them.
The items according to the DSS was a directive from the Headquarters with the aim of bringing succour to the less privileged in the state who have been subjected to hardship due to the present circumstances orchestrated by the coronavirus.
Receiving some of the items, the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Ekiti State, The Most Reverend Felix Ajakaye marveled at the action of the DSS urging other institutions to take a cue from the service.
According to him, Nigeria and the world are in a critical state where relevant bodies and individuals are expected to show love to one another as exemplified by Christ.
He urged members of the public to always adhere strictly to the precautionary measures against the virus and desist from spreading fake news.
In other places visited the beneficiaries thanked DSS for the gesture.
