The Abia State Police Command has warned the Independent People of Biafra,IPOB, to steer clear of the burial of Nnamdi Kanu parents that will come up this week.

The State Commissioner of Police,Mr Okon Ene, said the police would not allow IPOB to participate in the burial.

He threatened that if any member of the proscribe group was seen anywhere around the burial venue, the police would scatter the party.

The group said its members were not coming for war but to pay their last respect to the parents of their leader.

IPOB had earlier asked the Nigerian army and other security agencies to face the real security issues confronting the country, rather than chasing shadows.

It was gathered that the state commissioner of had earlier reached out to the traditional prime minister of Afaraukwu, Nnamdi Kanu hometown, and made it clear that the burial would not hold if IPOB chose to attend.

“Whoever is think along that line is fooling himself. IPOB will dance during the burial and the police elephants will dance too.

“They (Afaraukwu) should tell the IPOB not to go near the area, let alone participating in the burial.

“If the community fails to adhere to the police warning the burial will not go on smoothly, because we are going to scatter the place. IPOB is proscribed by the Federal Government,” he said.

Okon added that nobody should expect him as the Commissioner of Police, to watch a proscribed group operate in the state.

“We will not tolerate any flag,IPOB insignia or the group members disguising as Jewish or Zionist members during the burial,” he stated.
