The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Ekiti State Command has arrested a proprietor of a private Private Coaching Centre in Ado for alleged fraud.

Roundoffnews gathered that the proprietor was arrested for charging above four thousand seven hundred naira slated by JAMB registration of 2020 UTME.

The suspect Mr. Femi Apata who manages DE Rock Tutors located at Adebayo Ado-Ekiti was arrested along with three other suspects while trying to pay for the UTME registrations in his office with a receipt showing the payment of seven thousand for the coaching fee and seven thousand five hundred for the JAMB registrations.

The arrest was in connection with memorandum of understanding reached with JAMB to stop cyber cafe owners as well as CBT Centres from charging above approved cost for the examination.

Mr Abdulahi Gana Mohammadu had also issued a directive to all state commands to step up their
intelligence gathering with a view to stopping fraudulent activities perpetrated by Coaching Centres as well as CBT centres in the state.

Speaking on the arrest, the State Commandant of NSCDC Mr. Solomon Iyamu, who had earlier issued a press statement warning CBT Centres and Cafe Owners in the
state to desist from charging applicants and parents more than the required cost approved by the examination body said the culprits would be sanctioned according to the law.

Mr. Solomon Iyamu also used the opportunity to appeal to Cafe Owners and CBT Centres in the state to follow strictly all rules guiding UTME as well the registration process

In his statement, the suspect Mr. Femi Apata explained that the extra cost placed on the registrations were meant to cater for the coaching classes and other charges that were not mentioned in his statement.
