Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State has approved the composition of negotiation committee for the implementation of the new minimum wage with a promise to comply with resolutions of the committee on the payment.

Fayemi who spoke on Tuesday during a roundtable meeting with Labour Leaders held at the government house Ado Ekiti urged the committee to commence negotiation immediately.

He promised to improve on the welfare of workers in line with his electioneering promises.

On the recent sack of over eight hundred staff of the Ekiti State University Ado Ekiti, Dr Fayemi promised to be disposed to the wish of the organize Labour to intervene with the management of the institution and government in order to find a lasting solution to the lingering problem.

In his address of welcome, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Labour Matters, Comrade Oluyemi Esan said the roundtable discussion was to create an avenue for strong social dialogue and robust atmosphere between government and Labour.

Also speaking, the Head of Service, Mr Ayodeji Ajayi advocated that the roundtable discussion be held regularly so as so ensure mutual relationship between government and workers.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Trade Union Congress Mr. Sola Adigun and the chairman of the Joint Negotiation Council Comrade Kayode Fatomiluyi thanked Governor Fayemi for approving the roundtable meeting which they believed would further bridge the communication gap between government and the labour force.
