FEDERAL MORTGAGE BANK CALLS FOR REVIEW OF STATE’S LAND ACT TO ADDRESS HOUSING DEFICIT
State governments have been advised to review their land use act to ensure easy access to land by private and corporate organizations towards ensuring Mass housing programme.
Managing Director, Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria, Architect Ahmed Musa-Dangiwa gave the advice in Ado Ekiti at the 9th Annual lecture of Forum of Heads of Federal Government Establishments, Ekiti State chapter.
Speaking on the topic”National Housing Fund; Justification, Derailments and Prospects”, Architect Musa-Dangiwa explained that policies of state government on land use were part of the factors hindering Federal government move to provide affordable houses for Nigerians.
Represented by Mr Kabir Yagboyaju urged state government to provide enough land as well as public infrastructure to reduce the high cost of housing in the country.
The financial expert said that different types of housing loans were available for qualified people to access through the federal government National Housing Fund, NHF.
He listed some of the loans to include NHF mortgage loan, Home Renovation loan, Rent to own, construction, cooperative loans among others.
He called people to approach mortgage Banks for more information on the above type of loans in order to better their lots.
In his speech, Ekiti state Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi said the state would partner Federal Mortgage Bank to provide houses for residents of the state.
Represented by the General Manager, Ekiti State Housing Corporation, Mr Olaoye William, Governor Fayemi also promised that the present administration would be committed to programmes that would make life easy for the people.
Earlier, chairman of the Forum of Heads of Federal Establishment, in Ekiti state, Mr Olufemi Olugbenga noted that the topic was to enlighten members on how to access the National Housing Fund.
Mr Olufemi Olugbenga commended members of the Forum for organising such meaningful and enlightening programme geared towards the housing need of the public.
At the colourful programme, awards of excellence were presented to eminent individuals including the Chief medical Director, Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido Ekiti, Professor Adekunle Ajayi, a former Permanent Secretary,Chief Remi Olowoloba, an industrialist in Ekiti state, Mr Gilbert Igweka, a business Mogul, Chief Martins omojola and the immediate past Chairman of the Forum, Late Olufemi Adejumo for this unquantifiable contributions to societal development.
