EKITI GOVT RESTATES COMMITMENT TO MEASLES ERADICATION.
Parents in Ekiti state have been urged to make their children available for the forthcoming vaccination against measles disease coming up between 14th and 18th of this month.
The commissioner for Health and Human Services Dr. Mojisola Yaya-Kolade made the appeal in Ado Ekiti at a one day sensitization meeting with stakeholders on measles containing vacination 2 introduction into the routine immunization.
She said the present administration of Dr. Kayode Fayemi was committed to eradicating vaccine preventable diseases, hence all machinery would be put in place to achieve the foresight.
Dr Yaya-Kolade echoed that children in Ekiti state would henceforth be given immunization containing vaccine against measles twice at 9months and 15months.
She reiterated the commitment of the Ekiti state government under Dr Kayode Fayemi to good health care services delivery to Ekiti people and promised to make the state free of vaccine prevented diseases.
Earlier in her welcome address,the chairman, Board of Ekiti State Primary Health Care Development Agency,Chief Monisola Oloro charged stakeholders to sensitise members of the public on the need to key into the the programme.
She said all hands must be on deck in eradicating measles in Ekiti state to compliment the efforts of the state government on good and quality health care service delivery.
The Director of immunization and disease control in the Agency, Dr. Albert Odebunmi highlighted the objectives of the meeting to include identifying the roles and responsibilities of the stakeholders,to share lessons learnt from previous vaccine introduction among others.
There were goodwill messages from developing partners like UNICEF,WHO and AFENET.
