As parts of measures to ensure improved compliance with environmental rules and regulations, Ekiti State Government has advocated the simultaneous sitting of mobile courts and magistrates throughout the state on environmental sanitation days.
Deputy governor of Ekiti State, Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi stated this in Ado Ekiti while speaking with newsmen shortly after receiving delegation from the State House of Assembly.
The Deputy Governor acknowledged the support of the House of Assembly
in the enforcement of environmental sanitation law.
He explained that the court could assist to compel residents to obey the sanitation laws towards ensuring a clean and safe environment in the state.
Egbeyemi warned residents against allowing their houses to be used for
drug abuse and drinking of local gin popularly known as “ogogoro”
during environmental sanitation hours.
The Deputy Governor stressed that owners of such buildings risk arrest
and prosecution in line with the relevant laws in the state.
He disclosed that Governor Fayemi has approved the purchase of more
relief materials to be distributed to victims of flood very soon.
