Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi, hss said that harmonious relationship between the Executive and Legislative arms of government is key to the growth and development of any state.

To this end, Otunba Egbeyemi urged
members of the Ekiti State House of Assembly to always support the vision of
Governor Kayode Fayemi for the state to become “model of good
governance in Nigeria.”

Egbeyemi made the remarks on Thursday while receiving members of the
House Committee on Governor’s Office, Government House and
Constituency Outreach who are on an oversight visit.

The Committee members were led on the visit by their Chairman, Hon.
Femi Akindele. Other members are Hon. Olatunji Joseph, Hon. Akin Oso
and Hon. Ayodeji Ajayi.

Egbeyemi said the passage of laws like Transition Law, Gender-Based
Violence Prohibition Law, among others by the Sixth Assembly would
facilitate better service delivery and enhance people’s standard of

The Deputy Governor explained that Governor Fayemi was passionate on
Ekiti development which explained while policies and projects being
executed are tailored towards taking the state and its people to
greater heights.

He noted that projects commissioned during the first anniversary of
the Fayemi administration in office were the ones that would impact on
the people.

Speaking earlier, Committee Chairman, Hon. Femi Akindele, promised the
readiness of the lawmakers to perform their oversight functions to the
benefit of the people.

Akindele said the legislature would always cooperate with the
executive to ensure good governance in the state.

He said the lawmakers would need a full briefing on the activities of
the Office of the Deputy Governor and other agencies under it.

Akindele said: “We are here to ensure that the state is run the way it
should be run and we want to join you in this race and facilitate the
development of our state.

“The legislature and the executive are in the same boat. Being members
of the same party is an added advantage and we will assist to deliver
good governance to our people.”
