TAXI DRIVER ARRESTED FOR GIVING MONEY TO INMATES IN ADO EKITI.

By Roundoffnews.

A yet to be identified middle aged taxi driver was today beaten black and blue by armed squad of the Nigerian Prison Service in Ado Ekiti.

The incident occurred around Fajuyi area of Ado Ekiti after traffic light stopped the Green Maria and the taxi driver.

The taxi driver was reported to have given out unspecified amount of money to inmates who were being conveyed in paddy wagon known as green maria to court.

Apparently irked by such unsolicited gesture, the armed security men attached to the wagon conveying the inmates pounced on the driver beating the living day light out of him and took him away.

This development, generated a little traffic jam on the busy road for few minutes as the vehicle of the driver was left on the road thus causing obstruction.

When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Correction Facility Foluso Babalola confirmed the incident and said the action of the taxi driver was against the law.

He said the taxi driver had committed a traffic offence as what he gave to the inmates may be used to escape or cause any act inimical to operations of the facility.

Babalola said the driver would be charged to court soon.
