Okada Riders In Akure Pleads For lift Of Ban, Declares Supports For Akeredolu

Members of commercial motorcycle operator in Ondo state have appealled to the Governor of the state, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu to lift ban on ticketting activities among their members.

The motorcycle operators, comprises, Amalgamated Commercial Motorcycle and Riders Association of Nigeria (ACOMORAN) Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) and Ondo State Owners Bike and Riders Association (OSOBRA), also declared their intentions to work for the success of the second term ambition of the Governor.

In a letter of appeal dated 20th September entitled: “Save our children and relatives soul from starvation” signed by their representatives, Comrades Olumorin Akinlolu, Moses Olaoye and Timilehin Akinrolabu, appealed to the Governor to lift ban on the sale of daily ticket to their members.

It will be recall that in 2015, the last administration in the state under the leadership of former Governor Olusegun Mimiko banned ticketing activities among all commercial motorcycle operator in the state and also disolved their excetive members.

The letter copied to the Governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi, Speaker of Ondo State House of Assembly, Hon Bamidele Oleyelogun, Ondo State council of Obas, Ondo State chapter of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) as well as Muslim Association of Nigeria (MAN).

The commercial motorcyclist operators described their associations as registered and law abiding groups always ready to cooperate and support the government in all matters relating to the development of the state and good governance.

They appealed to the Governor to please lift the ban on the lawful general administration’s of the association, promised to organise a law abiding state executive members that would make the association contribute more to the development of the state.

They called on relevant groups and organisations in the state to assist their associations from being go into oblivion also beg the Governor to lift the ban on the operations and ticketing activities among members of their associations.

They equally promised the continue loyalties of their members towards the development of Ondo state by contributing immensely towards the promotion of internal revenue of the state.

The group noted that the ban on the ticket activities in the state, apart from creating what it called serious rift between the state chapter and the national body of the association, it has led to a threat to withdraw the Ondo state chapter from the national body due to lack of appropriate remittance to the national body of the association.

“Our members numbering over 65,000 across the length and breath of Ondo state solidly support our tested and trusted Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu second term ambition, we equally appealed to relevant stakeholders to kindly help us appeal to the Governor to save our children and relatives soul from starvation “

“Commercial motorcyclist associations has been in existence in Ondo state since 1995, carrying out her lawaful activities without intimidation or oppression of any citizen.

“Until sometime in August 2015 when the immediate past administration in Ondo state purportedly suspended the state executive over alledge failure to subscribe to government printed daily ticket meant to be sold to members of our associations for official revenue generation for Ondo State” It stated.
