The death has been announced of Mr Rufus Idowu Adegoke, a serving Assistant Commissioner of Police.

In a statement in Efon Ekiti, the brother of the deceased Hon Taiwo Adegoke, said the officer died peacefully in his sleep, during a brief illness at his home in Efon Alaaye, Ekiti State in the early hours of Monday, 16th day of September, 2019.

He wasnenlisted into Police Academy, Kano in June 1994 and got commissioned as an Officer (Cadet ASP) in 1995, following which he served across the country in various capacities and rose through the ranks to become an Assistant Commissioner of Police in 2017.

The position the late elite Cop occupied in the Nigeria Police Force includes but not limited to the following;

*Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for Ogun State Command;
*Divisional Crime Officer, Ajuwon Police Station;
*Provost Marshal, Lagos State Police Command;

*Instructor at the Police Staff College, Jos, Plateau State;
*O/C D5( General Investigation) Plateau State Command- which he held with utmost respect and regards.
*Divisional Police Officer (DPO) at “A” Division in Jos, Plateau State.

*O/C Advanced Training, Police Staff College, Ikeja Lagos;
*O/C Admin, Zamfara State Police Command,
*Area Commander, Suleja, Niger State and *Area Commander in Okehi, Kogi State, the post he held as at the time of his death in active service.

The deceased is survived by his wife, Chief Magistrate Olanike Adegoke(JP) of the Ekiti State Judiciary, children, an aged mother, siblings, cousins and several extended relatives.

The remains of the once amiable Police Officer would be committed to mother earth at his home in Efon Alaaye on Saturday 5th October, 2019. Details as announced by the family.
