The outgone Deputy president of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employee NULGE Ekiti State chapter Comrade Oluseyi Babatunde Olatude has emerged as the new president of the union.

Comrade Olatunde emerged as the president through consensus agreements of delegates at the Quadrennial Conference of the union held in Ado Ekiti.

Olatunde was sacked few years ago by Governor Ayodele Fayose for criticizing the methods for the allocation of the bail out fund released to the state by Federal Government but was re-absorbed into service after intervention by appropriate authorities.

This perhaps could have been responsible for his easy ride to the corridor of power.

Other members of the executive are Comrade Adejuyigbe Deputy President, Comrade Gbenga Ogunjobi, Comrade Arinola Ajisafe women Chairperson, Comrade Tunde Adekunle trustee, Akindoku Olusegun trustee, Ajewole Adedayo Young workers representative, Bodunde Taiwo Auditor, Ojo Rufus Auditor, Akintunde Cosmas Treasurer and Laitan Alatise Welfare.

It was indeed a celebration galore at the venue of the programme as members of the union and the new executives danced to interesting songs from a music band.

Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Governor of Ekiti State Chief Bisi Egbeyeni commended the outgone Executives for having a smooth transition.

He also commended the outgone president Comrade Bunmi Ajimoko for the various successes recorded and urged the incoming leadership to justify the confidence reposed in them.

Also the Ekiti State Head of Service Mr Ayodeji Ajayi and the Special Assistant to the governor on Labour Matters Chief Oluyemi Esan urged labour leaders to always embrace dialogue rather than confrontation while they promised the readiness of government to partner unions towards ensuring growth and development of the state.

In his address, the national president of NULGE Comrade Ibrahim Khaleel congratulated both the outgone and new executives for conducting a crisis free election which he described as a good precedence.

He stressed the importance of effective local government system to the growth and development of any government.

Earlier the outgone president, Comrade Bunmi Ajimoko thanked God for the journey so far just as he highlighted some of his achievements which includes welfare of members, implementation of capital projects, repositioning of the union among others.

In a remark the new president Comrade Babatunde Olatunde promised to do everything possible to fulfill his promises of promoting and projecting the union.

He thanked all leaders and members of the union for their support and promised not to let them down.
