Osun Assembly Chief whip partners NGOs for constituents’ Empowerment

The Chief Whip of the Osun State House of Assembly, Mr Tunde Olatunji says, a virile Non Governmental Organizations, NGOs is an indispensable institution in consolidating and sustaining the Nigeria’s Democracy.

“NGOs as communities of conscious people world over play significant role in mobilizing citizens towards performing their civic responsibilities, as well as bridging the gap between them and policy makers”.

Mr Olatunji stated this in his office when he played host to leadership of the Justice Development and Peace Makers Centre, JDPMC Osun state.

According to him, ” Non Governmental Organizations as non state actors compliments government to raise people’s awareness in order to promote Environmental, Climatic sanity, Healthy living and improved Education and good governance”.

He pointed out that the NGOs in Nigeria had really impacted on the nation’s political landscape, particularly in their contributions to the Nigeria’s electoral process since return to Civil rule in 1999.”

The Assembly chief Whip appreciated the JDPMC for its impact in many areas of human endeavour, while he also charged the organization that there were many areas that still required such intervention.

The legislator expressed his readiness to partner with the Centre to empower his constituents, while he also gave assurance of the state government to support other NGOs that are committed to enhancing the value of the people.
