Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State has concluded arrangement to return some missionary schools to their Founders to improve and sustain the quality of education in the state.
The Governor said the first set of schools to be returned would be announced during the commencement of the next academic session in September.
He made this known while reacting to the request of the Prelate of the Methodist Church, Nigeria, His Eminence, Dr.Samuel Chukwuemeka Uche who urged government to return missionary schools to the owners for better maintenance.
Governor Fayemi who stressed that such idea would further stamp the administration’s respect for values promised that government would work out an efficient model as Practised in states where schools were being run by their missionaries
The Governor noted that government would pay the salaries and allowances of the teachers with grants to the schools while the missions would take care of administration.
