Princess Okunyiga while seconding the motion moved by Mr Akanle Lateef representing Ekiti East Constituency two expressed concern over the total blackout which she claimed had run to five years.

According to her, the development was appalling and unacceptable in the 21st century.

She explained that the action of the BEDC to cut off the Constituency from the National grid had crippled the socio-economic activities of the constituency.

“My people are not happy with this development, electricity is important to human existence Mr Speaker and my honourable colleagues it is imperative to prevail on the authorities of BEDC to address this issue.

The brilliant submission of the Lawmaker which was supported by other members necessitated the resolution of the Assembly to summon authorities of the Benin Electrical Distribution Company to appear at a later date to be announced soon.

Speaking after the plenary, Okunyiga reiterated her commitment to defend the interest of her people and attract more benefits for them.

I am here to do everything possible to get benefits for my people and this I will do without compromise she said.
