The Association of Retired Head of Service and Permanent Secretaries in Ekiti state have called for the urgent reform of the Public Service to make it more efficient and effective in service delivery.

The Chairman of the Association Chief Abiodun Ajayi made the call when he led other members on a courtesy call on Ekiti State Governor Dr. Kayode Fayemi in Ado Ekiti..

Chief Ajayi noted that the Civil Service have been polluted and politicized which had affected its productivity there by hindering smooth implementation of government policies and programmes.

He also urged government to restructure the MDA’s, address bureaucratic bottle neck, corruption, ensure Staff motivation and financial management planning to make the public service more productive.

Chief Ajayi urged govt to set up a special committee to review the operations of the third tier of government to make them more responsive to the yearnings of the people at the grassroots.

The Chairman therefore pleaded with the governor to approve the full payment of their parity of pension started five years ago and solicited the assistance of govt to enhance the activities of the association.

In a response Governor Kayode Fayemi observed that Civil Service was responsible for the implementation of government policies and programmes hence the need for urgent reform.

He told the visitors that government was poised to review the operations of the local government system through appropriate means and gave an assurance of necessary support to the Association.
