BREAKING.. FUOYE STUDENTS PROTEST OVER ALLEGED POOR FACILITIES.

By Kayode Joseph.

Academic and non-academic activities of the Federal University Oye Ekiti and the Ikole campus have been halted following an ongoing protest by students of the institution over alleged poor facilities in the campus and extortion by the management.

The protest is going on simultaneously in both campuses.

The demonstration is coming few days after some students of the institution took to the street to also protest lack of power supply.

As at the time of this report, the students in their large number converged on the main entrance of the University in Oye Ekiti where they chanted solidarity songs with placard bearing various inscriptions representing their agitations.

The students barricaded the main entrance thereby preventing workers and management from gaining entry.

It was also a similar scenario in Ikole campus.

Speaking with Roundoffnews, the Vice president of the Students Union Government SUG of the institution Adedapo Adeleye alleged that the present state of facilities in the campus was nothing to write home about.

According to him, the University lacked necessary facilities such as power, laboratories, good roads, toilets, and internet which they pay for every semester.

Adeleye added that the development had subjected students to serious hardship hence the need for the protest after the management had turned deaf ear to several calls of the student for solution to the problems.

He said the protest was to attract the attention of appropriate authorities towards addressing the problem.

Roundoffnews is making attempt to speak with the management of the institution.
